Prison I Call Home

That old quick stop

Where everybody smoked their pot

Is the only thing lit up this time of nightSame six trucks in the parking lot

Cranked up loud like a juke box

Like clockwork, a fight′s gonna bring blue lights

Since I was old enough to breathe

These county lines have been holding me

There's a courthouse square

On the edge of nowhere

By the tracks that ain′t seen a train

With a welcome sign on the side of the road

Faded from the wind and rain

It ain't hell, it's a cold jail cell

Where the sentence carries on

Welcome to the prison I call home

Well most folks in this town

They′ll put the old man down

That owns a pub and shares a Sunday pew

As he pours me another drink

I look at him and think that

My only freedom is his bar stool

If I could break the chains that bind me

Well I heard the grass is greener on the other side

Of the courthouse square

On the edge of nowhere

By the tracks that ain′t seen a train

With a welcome sign on the side of the road

Faded from the wind and rain

It ain't hell, it′s a cold jail cell

Where the sentence carries on

Welcome to the prison I call...

Home is where the heart is

It seems I can't let go

So this is where they′ll lay me down

It's the only place I know

Is the courthouse square

On the edge of nowhere

By the tracks that ain′t seen a train

With that welcome sign on the side of the road

Still faded from the wind and rain

It ain't hell, it's a cold jail cell

Where the sentence carries on

Welcome to the prison

Welcome to the prison

Welcome to the prison I call home

That old quick stop
