I grew up ridin′ dirtbikes

Had my share of fist fights

Played quarterback and defensive endAnd lead guitar in a metal band

I've hitchhiked in the pouring rain

And lost all my money in a poker game

I liked skinny dippin′ by a full moon light

And keg parties on a Friday night

I've come a long way

From my younger days

I did a lot of crazy country things

Like drink myself into a haze

Smoked cigarettes for 6 years straight

Drove a pickup truck with a 3" lift

And my favorite dog was a pit bull mix

Killed a monster buck with a compound bow

Been lost in the Rocky Mountains alone

Raced the quarter mile in a stolen vet

But no one ever called me a redneck

My dad left town when I was 10

Never heard very much from him

My mom raised 4 boys on her own

She's the strongest person that I′ve ever known

Went off the rails in my teenage years

Did some things I can′t mention here

I used to get high every single night

And cheated death at least 13 times

I've come a long way

From my younger days

But there′s a lot of country left in me

I like a cold beer and a baseball game

Jumping off a cliff into a mountain lake

Found my dream girl in a smokey bar

She's a brown eyed, red headed work of art

I roll my windows down and crank up my tunes

Any Zac Brown song gets me in the mood

I′ll be a country man until I'm dead

But still no one ever called me a redneck

And here′s to all my friends

I made along the way

What can I say

And to everyone that I let down...

I made my share of big mistakes

I thank God for His love and grace

And for the people in my life

That stuck with me through the toughest times

It's the simple things that make me smile

Like family I haven't seen in awhile

Or a cold sweet tea on a summer day

Just hangin′ out with my kids doin anything

I′ve come a long way

From my younger days

But there's a lot of country left in me

I like my toes sunk in Carolina sand

Or being up north anywhere in Michigan

Or a big snow powder day in Breckenridge

Or in a tree stand when a buck comes in

Been called a cowboy in a baseball hat

And some other names I′d just as soon forget

But dad is the name that I like best

And I could care less, if you call me a redneck
